How many of these punctuation marks do you know the correct names?
If you know five or more, you're definitely a great speaker of Korean. 😉
What are punctuation marks A symbol used to reveal the structure of a sentence or to convey the writer's intention when writingThis is it.
In order to efficiently convey the meaning of the text, it is necessary to use punctuation marks appropriately.
Let's take a quick look at the importance of punctuation marks through the following two examples.
First first”My boyfriend's brother with a small faceThere is an expression called”.
Because of the neutral expression in this sentence, a person with a small face may be your boyfriend or your boyfriend's brother.
Therefore, if you insert a comma (,) into this expression to indicate “a small face, boyfriend's brother,” you can clearly indicate that a person with a small face is your boyfriend's brother.
How would a translator express this sentence? Is a guy with a small face your boyfriend? Or a brother? If you have any questions, check out the Gicon Studio comparison translator.
This is the second case.
I remember an episode of a text message my professor sent to me just before class when I was in college. There was a time when I experienced confusion and realized the importance of punctuation marks because of the five letters my professor sent me.
“It's a little late today”
How did I respond to this letter from the professor?
“Sorry... I'll go as soon as possible.” When I answered, for some reason, the professor himself said that he would be a little late for class because the professor's external schedule ended later than planned.
I said, “Are you a little late today?” I took it in that sense, and I didn't arrive before class started, and I took it like a thief was at my feet.
