Q. How did you get started as a migrator?
I've been a little better than my peers since high school I think I loved studying English. I personally studied a lotAs a result, I naturally had an idea that it would be nice to translate a book at any moment; after having had that idea for 10 or 20 years, I saw an announcement from a publishing company that was looking for translators. I applied to the publisher to recruit translators, and thankfully, they were selected That's when I first moved, and I started translating books.
Q. What was the first book you translated?
The internet started in the late 1990s, right? At that time, there was a time when equipment such as a router was important in order to use a network called the Internet.
Of course it's still important now, but it was a new technology back then. I had a CCNA certification to manage a router. CCNA exam bookTranslating was my first translation.
Q. Entering the path of artificial intelligence IT book (book) translation

Remember when there was a historic powerhouse in March 2016? There was a historic Go game with Lee Se-dol 9 and AlphaGo, and I was personally shocked when I saw that. That's why I quit my job. ^^
I was studying in the evening, but I didn't think I'd be able to do it I wanted to quit and study for 6 months because I wanted to study artificial intelligence anew, so I lived as a volunteer for 6 monthsI did it.
For 6 months An English application book I stumbled upon while studying artificial intelligenceThere was, and through that original book, artificial intelligence is this. I got great insight from that book while understanding that the basics are this. <신경망 첫걸음>That original book was translated by me. The book wasn't too large, about 200 pages, so I think it was easier.
I think the help (translation income) was quite helpful because I was struggling to make a living with a hundred workers at the time.

Q. Did the publisher ask you to publish a book?
A friend of mine asked me one day when she was in a publishing houseYou did it. “You're studying artificial intelligence these days? Can you recommend some good books for us to translate?”
I heard this story and said, “Brother, I have a very easy and nice book (Make Your Own Neural Network). I said, “If you publish it, it will be a big hit.”
He (the publisher's representative) heard the story and learned about it separately. (US) I contacted the publisher and the author, and they eventually told me that the copyright had been obtained. Then make a suggestionThe person who gave me a chance to “You suggested it, try translating it,” and that's why I started translating. I was so happy to even translate a book that I enjoyed reading at the time. It still remains a very good memory.
Q. How much do you earn from publishing and translating?
I can't remember just picking up the amount. In general, translation is rarely paid. Normally How much is the OOO translation fee for a “per page” when signing a contract with a publisherIt's called.

I think it would be a good idea for teachers who translate books to consider this and sign a contract with a publisher.
Q. <신경망 첫걸음> How did the title of the book come about?
In the case of a book title When decided in consultation with the publisherI think there are a lot of them. You can follow the original title, but I think 2016 was a time when artificial intelligence was still unfamiliar, so I think the publishing house also planned a series. <신경망 첫걸음>Also, since it's a book with a very easy and succinct explanation, I named it “First Step.” I'm still happy with the choice of terms.
Q. <신경망 첫걸음> The translation style is unique. Was there a reason?

Q. What episode left a deep impression on you?
Translating a field I like and know very well is a real pleasureI think it is. So more than any other book, I had fun translating this book in a short period of time. However, what I was careful about during the fun translation process I don't think the content in the book should have an inscriptionI did. As the sentence gets longer, the possibility of an inscription increases, and I think I read it three times four or five times and tried to get rid of the inscription.
particularly IT books require the code to work properly.. The book was probably written 1 to 2 years or 3 to 4 years ago, It often happens that the code that was verified at that time doesn't work there nowI also do it, but I remember spending a lot of time checking each one by myself at the time.
Q. How did you overcome the challenges of having to use undefined terms?
Artificial intelligence wasn't well known at the time, but the good news is that our people learned it fast, right? In the second half of 2016, more people were already studying artificial intelligence.
They have established (terms) to a certain extent, and in the case of some expressions, there are words that are very awkward if transferred as they are in English, but they also focused on Hangul expressions in that area, and other expressions are difficult to express in Hangul Consider the subtle pointsI did it a lot.

Q. What is the most important competency as a translator (translator)?
I think it's different, both as a migrant and as a member of society. Q. An essential comment for those preparing to move
In the meantime, I've translated a total of 5 books. Every time, translation should be a fun job, but if it became painful at some point, I think the results were bound to be poor no matter how good I tried. So I think you have to enjoy working, and in order to have fun working, you must eventually have your own expertiseIt turned out.
